All the cabinets and walls painted, new hardware, and a new faucet. The ugly mirrors on the cabinet doors were transformed using chalkboard contact paper. A handy place to make a shopping list!
Next came the carpet in the main living area. Since my dog (who sheds a lot!) will be traveling with me, I wanted a floor that could be swept and mopped rather than vacuumed and shampooed.
Removed the ugly and uncomfortable “barrel” chairs, removed old carpet, and installed vinyl planks. The planks only took a few hours to install, but the trim was the difficult part. It took me a while, but for someone who has never done such a thing, I think it turned out pretty good.
For some reason, the manufacturer of the motorhome designed many of the cabinet doors with mirrors. I suppose the idea was to make the small space feel bigger. To me, it just looked tacky and dated. The mirrors above the bed were the place I decided to add a personal touch. I found a place online that will print your photos on decals. So, I ordered one of my favorite prints of Mossbrae Falls and covered them with soothing, refreshing waterfall goodness. I’m happy to say the only mirror left is in the bathroom!
Once all the hard work was done, I started on the fun part. Well, at least it was fun for me. I got rid of all the curtains, recovered the valances, made new curtains for the space above the cab, and added fringe to the bedroom valances. I know fringe is a bit quirky, but then so am I!
The final preparations are still being done. It’s time to decide what to take and what to leave behind, find ways to organize it all, and do some minor maintenance on the exterior. When I look back on my life, I realize that most of the major changes that have happened have been things that “just happened.” This time, it’s a choice. I’ve been dreaming about this change for over four years, and actively taking the steps to make it happen since 2012. It’s been a long time coming, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’d like to come up with a name for my new rolling home. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
I ‘m so happy for you Loree!
Congratulations on taking this GIANT step, Loree! Talk is easy . . . doing is hard. You truly inspire me — I wish you all the best! 🙂
This is fantastic!
Thank you for the encouragement Wendy. You’re absolutely right! Talking/thinking/dreaming about doing this was easy. Making it actually happen has been difficult. But, it will be that much sweeter because of the sacrifices.
Looking good on the inside.Do you have any images of the outside
Roy, if you click on the “Home” tab, you will see an exterior image as the banner to this article.
All of your changes are simple but so tasteful. Looks like your gonna be very comfortable. Have fun and be safe.

Why not call your new home “Endless Weekend”?
Congrats on taking this step in your life.
Great idea! I will add that to the list of possibilities.
