On my last day at my job, one of my colleagues shared a story of how her retired husband said to her “I don’t know how I ever had time for a job.” That is how things have been going lately for me. I never imagined retirement would be so busy!
I recently reconnected with a friend who I hadn’t seen or heard from in nearly twenty years. She came to visit and I had a wonderful time showing her around the area. As it turns out, my friend is a birder, so of course we had to visit the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge. Being the perfect season for raptors, we saw many bald eagles. The tundra swans and snow geese were present in large numbers. It was an amazing day and the weather was perfect.
Another adventure we embarked on was visiting Pluto’s Cave at night. It was the perfect opportunity to practice star photography, which is something I hope to do more as the weather gets warmer. The moon was pretty bright that night and it gave an unusual day-at-night effect. At first I was disappointed that there were so many clouds, but I rather like how it turned out.
And now that the visit is over, several new opportunities have cropped up for me and my photography. More about that in a future post….
